XF z 2,2-litrowym, 4-cylindrowym, wysokoprężnym silnikiem o mocy 190 KM na pokładzie przeszedł promocyjną próbę spalania na trasie z Zamku Bromwich w Birmingham do Monachium. Razem 816 mil, czyli 1313 kilometrów. Fabrycznie standardowa limuzyna z 3 tysiącami mil na liczniku, niezależnym testerem i pilotem na pokładzie oraz 8-stopniowym automatem ZF i systemem Start/Stop pokonała trasę przez boczne drogi, autostrady i miasta na 64 litrach paliwa. To daje średnio 57 mpg, czyli niespełna 4,9 l/100km. XF z Dieslem pojawi się w sprzedaży we wrześniu.
