Z wyglądu jakoś niewiele się zmieniło, równie dobrze to mógłby być głębszy lifting, a nie zupełnie nowa generacja. W czarnym wygląda bardzo groźnie.
BMW przygotowano edycje specjalne swoich największych SUV'ów: X5 Special Edition oraz X6 M Sport Edition. X6 wyróżnia malowanie Long Beach Blue (w opcji Carbon Black lub Mineral White), karbonowy body kit oraz elementy pakietu M Sport z 20-calowymi lub 21-calowymi felgami. Seria M Sport Edition nie obejmuje modelu X6 M50d.
